Description
Ox hair is soft, holds a lot and releases slowly, which is what lays a varnish flat instead of dragging it. A stiff synthetic in the same hand leaves brush marks you then have to sand out.
Ferrules are set in epoxy rather than crimped on a pressed fit, so bristles do not come out into a wet finish. Handles are unlacquered — a lacquered handle softens in solvent and goes tacky.
They want cleaning in the right solvent and hanging bristle-down. Stood on the bristle once, a brush of this kind never recovers.
