Description
A light base and a long arm is a lamp that tips. The mass here is in the foot, and the foot is felted underneath so it slides rather than scratches when you move it.
The arm balances on springs and holds at full extension without drift. The shade is deep enough to keep the lamp out of your eye line when the head is low over the work — the usual complaint with a shallow cone.
Height is set by two friction pivots rather than a ratchet, so the head can sit at any angle instead of the nearest notch. Both tighten with a coin if they loosen over a year.
