Description
The common failure is a strap that crosses the back of the knee and goes tight every time you bend. These sit above and below the joint with the buckle to the outside.
Gel core over closed-cell foam: the foam carries the weight, the gel spreads a point load from a screw or a stone. Outer shell is a hard cap so you can pivot on them rather than being pinned in place.
The cap is a separate moulding on a hinge, so it flexes with the knee rather than levering the pad off when you crouch. A one-piece shell is what makes most pads rotate round the leg.
